Description
A young lady so young and fair, yet lost as to her own self, was walking, and walked past a statue. A statue of a lion. Something drew her gaze, to focus upon it, to stop in her tracks and look directly at this lion. At a glance, it was like so many other statues, yet somehow different. She reached out and touched the face of the lion. It didn't feel cold, but warm like that of human skin, very much alive. An inner feeling that a soul was trapped within the marbled figure. The eyes of this statue were expressive, an expression of sadness. She followed the lines of the statue with her other hand to it's paw to find a rope chiseled in the marble. Suddenly she felt something on her other hand, only to find a drop of water on it. She looked at it's eyes "your crying" she spoke beneath her breath. "you seem so alive, it is like you are a soul trapped in stone." she whispered. Mesmerized by what she saw and voice floated on the the air "Do not leave, please stay, please save me." She stepped back, glanced around to see no one but her and this statue before her. Her heart fell in fear and sorrow, for only to well did she understand . That the souls that live are trapped inside a shell longing to be free.

Thanks, you know I really don't paint with oil all that much, but I rather liked this one because I think I got the emotion right.

very good painting, has a timeless quality with the modern young woman communing with ancient myth. For me what I really like is the painterly handling of the brush. confidence shows though the brush marks as well as they are very good at the carrying emotional message or your feeling to the viewer. Well done.
