Amidst the beauty of Monument Valley, Arizona, a tree stump sits bleaching in the sun. I wanted to show that even in death, trees can take on a charm all of their own; I liked the way here that the patterns in the wood seemed to emulate the striations in Merrick Butte in the distance.

Sure thing! I allow stumps and similar if they are the main focus of the image and not just the rock formations, canyons, sunsets, etc where there are no plants or animals as the primary subject. Does that make sense? LOL Looking forward to more of your photos!

What a discovery! This is so beautiful. Most people only photograph the rock formations when they are in that area. It is so nice to see the character of this old fellow represented in an image. Gorgeous! L/F Featured in American Desert Southwest.
