Creating a visual essay in oil colours about the essence of ultimate loveliness, was quite a challenge. I imagined looking out from inside an ancient building, and designed a row of fancy perfume bottles for the foreground. The bottles are symbolic of beauty, but they also provided brand name spaces for the aroma of the Spirit of God. The open hands symbolise the offer of Jesus to radiate His character traits from the core of each one of us if we will yield to Him. The original inspiration came as I compared Galations 5 v 22-23 with the emphasis on skin deep beauty that dominates much of our society.

Most of my paintings are executed in oils, often over the top of other media. Many are visual stories that contain partially hidden words or imagery where the homespun and the familiar become symbols of timeless truth. My hope is that you will discover additional levels of meaning as you look at the paintings closely.
