"This piece reflects my understanding of faith. Jesus first reaches out to us, even as 'He first loved us' (1 John 4:19). We are simply to, in childlike faith, reach back to Him - and hold on for dear (eternal!) life. In this image, I'm inviting the viewer into that critical moment in which the child in all of us feels inclined to reach the hand upward, but in which we haven't quite committed to actually connect. Yet, that final decision is all that stands between any of God's children and His amazing grace, which alone can finally satiate our unrelenting yearning for home - a desire which, deep down, is really a yearning for Him! O how I yearn...
