In the summer of 2014, several Hurricanes sprung up in the South Pacific Ocean, North of the Equator, most of those were attracted far out to sea, and some swept near Hawaii. One, named Hurricane Marie remained close to the Southern California coastline, and produced 15 – 20 foot cresting waves to the delight of local surfers, and sightseers.

On August 27, 2014, Marie was downgraded to a Tropical Storm, but that did not diminish her power and destructive force.

Photographed on both sides of Mugu Rock in Ventura County, California, Tropical Storm Marie showed off her fury in grand fashion.

I began photography in the late 1940s when I receive a gift of a Kodak Brownie Box camera. Since that day I have been very interested in capturing as much artistic imagery as possible. I have moved up from the 120 by 120 B&W film to a Yashica, Single Lens Rangefinder 35mm, and Kodak color transparency film. My next acquisition was in the early 1980s with an Olympus OM-4, 35mm Single Lens Reflex camera and several accessory lens attachments. I also purchased my first chemical darkroom and equipment to print all my images. I was a big user of Kodak Kodacolor, and Kodak Ektachrome.
