Description
Cal Fire UH-1H Super Huey
As of August 24th 2020, California wildfires had burned more than 1.4 million acres in recent weeks. There were 625 fires actively burning on August 24th. My own community battled the #JonesIncident last week while we hosted friends who were evacuated from their home very near the fire. There were 14 homes lost and more damaged.
Tragically, a helicopter pilot from southern California, Michael Fournier, died in a helicopter crash fighting the Hills Fire in Western Fresno County. He worked for a helicopter company that contracts with Cal Fire.
Today I painted this watercolor in honor of Michael Fournier and all of our Cal Fire and other fire fighting heroes who've died battling fire.
I will donate all artist proceeds to the family's GoFundMe account set up at https://www.gofundme.com/f/rr8my8-remembering-mike-fournier
