It is very curious that just as Abraham Lincolns presidency was not completed neither was his sculpture at Mount Rushmore. The master sculptor Gutzon Borglum, who was the leader of the Mount Rushmore project, tragically died before the project was completed. The last sculpture scheduled to be completed was of Abraham Lincoln. After the death of Borglum the project was discontinued and Abraham Lincoln was never finished.

I have never before seen a photo of just a single portrait on Mt. Rushmore. Tho' unfinished (which I never knew), it so beautifully captures Lincoln's essence. The way your photo captures the light, shadow, textures, along with the perspective, makes this a stunning piece of art! L
John M Bailey replied:
Well I certainly appreciate your great words and support Barbara! I also did not know Lincoln was unfinished until a few years ago.

I am unaware of this fact, so I appreciate the education. I love how you presented this photo with the edge treatments, and I don't think I have seen images of the individual heads. Usually you see all four. So this is a unique perspective.

I thank you Michelle!

As a journalist I actually climbed on top of Lincoln's head. From there I took a picture looking down on Lincoln's face and that image is posted on FAA in my account.
