Nice photo on cup. I'm a South Carolinian, and the wrens mean something to me. The cup reminds me of home.

I enjoy my coffee or tea in this handsome cup, "time-travelling" whilst researching French history in the Long 19th Century. 40-year old crippled aristocrat Maurice Talleyrand, former Bishop of Autun fled to America to escape the Reign of Terror. He was living in one rented room, working as a banking and real estate agent in Philadelphia when he and his friend Alexander Hamilton paid English pastel artist James Sharples a modest sum make their portraits, which they exchanged. After the tragic death of Hamilton, his widow wrote to request her husband's portrait, which Talleyrand, now back in France and Minister of Foreign Affairs under the Directorate, had hung over his fireplace; but reluctantly restored to her, after having it copied. Talleyrand's portrait is today in the Bristol (UK) art museum. The artist has caught the image of a proud, self-possessed man: lonely, bored and homesick-- unsure if or when he can return to his beloved France. His astounding 45year career as Europe's "Prince of diplomats" still lay before him. . .

November 12, 2019 - Union Pacific's "Big Boy" 4014 puts out a huge plume of steam in the cold November air at Hope, Arkansas as it heads north on the UP's Little Rock Subdivision on its way to Prescott, AR where it will tie down for the night.
According to Wikipedia: The Union Pacific Big Boy is a type of simple articulated 4-8-8-4 steam locomotive manufactured by the American Locomotive Company between 1941 and 1944 and operated by the Union Pacific Railroad in revenue service until 1959.
The 25 Big Boy locomotives were built to haul freight over the Wasatch mountains between Ogden, Utah, and Green River, Wyoming. In the late 1940s, they were reassigned to Cheyenne, Wyoming, where they hauled freight over Sherman Hill to Laramie, Wyoming. They were the only locomotives to use a 4-8-8-4 wheel arrangement: four-wheel leading truck for stability entering curves, two sets of eight driving wheels and a four-wheel trailing truck to support the large firebox.
