Description
This is a three series work of acrylic on canvas with mixed media art depiciting different parts of a womans
body Each piece shows an image that is often depicted in the genre of erotica or
erotic dancing.Each piece is untitled to add to the concept that these women are
de humanized, merely body parts for the viewing pleasure of others. . Each is a bold
colourful, pop art, almost cartoonish likeness of three womens bodyparts , once
again this concept in the work lends to the fact that the women are just bodies
not people. The mixed media portion within the body scape of the woman is done with
super imposed black and white adult want ads, again lending to the concept that
the woman's body is merely a sexually explicit form, not human, no cerebral or
emotional essence . I began this process thinking the entire series might have a title such
as" Is this what she dreamed of when she was taking dance classes at 12 years of
age"
I hope this work although appearing light and colourful will induce conversation
about the whole concept of how womens bodies are often used for just visual
pleasure, or the selling of commodities to others
