Description
When you visit the beautiful state capitol in Des Moines, Iowa, it's hard to know whether to look around, down or up. Here I opted for up and was rewarded with this detail shot of the vaulted elegance of the ceiling in a large gallery in one of the building's wings. The unique, five-domed structure was built between 1871 and 1886. The decor is ornate but not overwhelmingly so.

Beautiful detail and symmetry in this image. Loved examining the detailed differences on either side of the column.
Nikolyn McDonald replied:
Thank you, Hany. I always enjoy exploring symmetrical images for small differences, too - I think they can make an image so much more interesting.

SPECTACULAR, N!! I'm LOVING your perspective here!! WOWOWOW!! LF
Nikolyn McDonald replied:
Thank you, Charlotte. I really appreciate your enthusiasm. I'm actually eager to go back so I can add exactly which wing/gallery this is - I think it's the one outside the office of the secretary of state, but I just don't remember and couldn't figure it out for sure by researching it.
