Description
On Tuesdays in Mahabaleshwar (India), there is a lot of activity. It is the day of the weekly market. Farmers/traders from Mahabaleshwar and from nearby villages bring in their weekly produce and set up stalls and shamianas. The business is brisk during the day. By late evening, all activity on that very long road comes slowly to a halt and all businesses are wound up for the day, to be resumed the following Tuesday.
As a tourist, and as someone who was soaking in the pulsating rhythm of the place, I found many faces, activities, gestures and all manner of human interaction interesting, to say the least.
This vegetable vendor was perhaps none-too-happy with the haggling customers and she gives them a direct, even piercing look.
