This is my watercolor rendition of Jon Oliver's photograph taken on July 2nd, 2020.
I fell in love with the paddle boats, all of the color, and the stillness of the harbor. Yet, the haunting feeling that the paddle boats should be out on the water, enjoyed by tourists and locals alike, wouldn't let me go. Was it the coronavirus pandemic that'd kept people home or had it simply been past boat curfew for the adventurers of the day? The small tour boats with their colorful shades simply put up for the evening?
The hundreds of yachts and sailboats moored in the marina with no signs of anyone still being out on the ocean, no empty slips from this view, made me wonder. The only sign of life the geraniums blooming en masse.
