Really disappointed Great piece of art however the frame was damaged in transit Over 4 weeks since delivery and no meaningful response from Fine Art to resolve the problem Have other pieces to order in my basket but just skeptical that they will arrive in good condition and that customer service will actually do anything other than the occasional email to say they are looking into it

We love this print. Our own Scottie, Claire, lays like this all the time which is why we purchased the print.

Love our print. However disappointed for the price point that the glass is not glare free!

Beautiful picture and the framing was well done. We are very happy with our purchase.

This is gorgeous and the photography resolution was perfect for a large print. Framing is perfect as well.

Artist's Description

View of an aurora borealis display (green) centred on the constellation of Ursa Major. Aurorae are caused by the interaction between energetic charged particles coming from the Sun and molecules of gases in the upper atmosphere (about 100km). A stream of charged particles, known as the solar wind, flows continuously from the Sun's corona towards interplanetary space at speeds of 400-500 km/s. These particles do not reach the Earth's atmosphere due to the shielding effect of the Earth's magnetic field. However, violent solar activities such as solar flares emit highly energetic particles which penetrate this shield and ionise molecules in the atmosphere.

About Pekka Parviainen

Science Photo Library was founded in 1981 by Michael Marten, one of the authors of "Worlds Within Worlds", a book exploring different ways to observe the universe - from electron micrographs, to images of earthrise taken from the Apollo spacecraft. When Marten started receiving requests for the beautiful images in the book, he had an idea of setting up Science Photo Library. Since then, Science Photo Library has continued to work alongside world acclaimed photographers and the leading science and medical experts to provide a central source of the best science and specialist imagery available. Although the collection started with scientific images, it has grown to encompass all aspects of science and their impact on everyday life.
