Description
I love this shot which shows the usual mist and cloud coming into the valley from the Pacific Ocean to the west. This artwork is derived from a photograph taken May 21/17 on the way to Giron, Ecuador, South America nestled in the Andes Mountains.
This photo is taken near the mountaintop monument to the Battle of Tarqui, also known as the Battle of Portete de Tarqui, which took place on February 27, 1829 at Portete de Tarqui, near Cuenca, Ecuador. It was fought between troops from Gran Colombia, commanded by Antonio José de Sucre, (as directed by Simon Bolivar) and Peruvian troops under José de La Mar. It was a victory for Gran Colombia. After winning independence from Spain, the countries that are now Ecuador, Colombia and Venezuela formed a single nation known as Gran Colombia, from which Peru seceded.
There is a Military Museum located in Giron (the town in the valley) which has many artifacts from this war.
This is the beginning of the Yunguilla Valley which contains about 10 different micro-climates.
Final processing done with Smart Photo Editor and Photoshop.
