Description
This side emblem is from a vintage Corvette Sting Ray, so you're apt to find dust settled into the corners of the lettering, which enhances its age.
The Chevrolet Corvette was introduced at the General Motors Motorama in 1953 as a concept show car. It caused enough interest for GM to start building them for the general public. To keep costs down, off-the-shelf mechanical components were used, as were the chassis and suspension from the 1952 Chevy sedan. The body was made of fiberglass instead of steel.
The Corvette has gone through seven generations of remakes in body styles, chassis and general overall style and performance.
Today, the Sting Ray is being resurrected at a cost of $51,995 plus, with the convertible at $56,995 plus. With all the planned options included, these cars will cost upwards of $75,000 in the 2014 market.
The artist, Mary Deal, is also an award-winning author of mystery/thrillers, a short story collection, writers' reference books and a self-help nonfiction. Read about it here:
