Exterior color photo detailing the round-arched windows on the vintage Renaissance Revival-style Ant Street Inn, an historic boutique bed-and-breakfast in downtown Brenham, Texas. Also known as the Schmid Bros. Building, the Ant Street Inn was originally a mercantile business, built in 1899-1900. The business was started in 1880 by Josef Schmid, who later was joined by his two brothers.
The official medallion near the entrance honors this inn, with its restaurant, accommodations, and special-events center, as a Registered Texas Historic Landmark, according to the Texas Historical Commission. You will find a close-up shot of the medallion, including its history, in my Vintage Gallery, and another frontal view of the property with its head-on parking.
