I am very honored that this painting was selected to appear in a prestigious Western Art show at the MOUNTAIN OYSTER CLUB in Tucson, Arizona on Sunday, November 22, 2015 and will be on display until January 9, 2016.
Winter in Zion National Park can be breath taking! In late November of 1994 we woke up to a winter wonderland while staying in Springdale. Heavy snow blanketed the valley as we drove though the Canyon. This painting is the day after. On the way back from The Gateway To The Narrows I pulled off the road to take a picture of Angels Landing while fog shrouded the summit. The Virgin River was so blue against the fresh snow and the sunlit canyon walls showcased the vivid colors that Zion is world renowned for! It was this trip that my daughter fell in love with our guest Nick. They got married the following April of 1995. They are looking forward to their 20th anniversary.
I told myself that I would like to paint this someday....well, 20 years later, I finally did.
