Positively beautiful: daughter and the painting.

Marvellous!!!

Patrick, so much wonderful work here but this was the one that stopped me in my tracks. I love it. I've read all the comments from your fans and can only add my praise as well. You sure did not cop out on the painting behind the girl. It's got me pulled into it as well. I also stood as a highschool kid (in the forties) in front of the little ballerina with her faded, tatered too-too and gazed into the long ago dance student's presence. You've captured it all. Thanks for the kind and welcoming words as I just signed into FAA. - - - - GEORGE

Patrick, I really appreciate your very nice comments and praise for my drawing of "Stephen", my "Beatrix" sculpture and my "Light Study" painting. Coming from someone who creates such exceptional work as you, this really means a lot. I admire many of your pieces, but "Visit to the Museum" is my favorite - it is not only very beautifully executed but it is also a captivating, multi-layered tribute to Degas whose work I, as you, like very much! Very nice, thanks.

Aloha Patrick! This is a painting that one can get lost in. Beautiful ...

Debra Chmelina

You are a Master painter. I have goosebumps looking at this. In my younger years I traveled to museums throughout Europe, it brings back memories. I am humble in your presence. Debra

Really nice to look at! Wonderful image idea! And lots of painting skills!

This artist!

Harold Shull

Amazing painting. I love the idea, the composition, and the craftsmanship. This painting should be hanging on the wall alongside Degas' Ballerina. Patrick, you are a master with a brush, pencil, piece of pastel or whatever you decide on working with. Bravo!

I would rate the greetings card a 5 but the overall service a 2. I loved the greetings card and the item arrived promptly in the post after ordering. However I did find the cost of almost £5 relatively expensive for a greetings card and the cost of almost £5 for posting was extortionate given that it was a small letter size and was being delivered within the UK. I hesitated purchasing for this reason as £10 for a card is pretty expensive. But I did like the image and could not find a similar one elsewhere online. It would also be useful to receive an email confirmation once I completed my purchase as most other online retailers do.

I was delighted that FineArtAmerica had these high quality Pissarro prints available - I bought this print in card format. I was just in St. Thomas, birthplace of the Father of Impressionism, Camille Pissarro, and found absolutely NO prints or cards of Pissarro's work! FineArtAmerica made it possible for me to have a "souvenir" of my trip, beautiful cards I could mail to my friends and family.

The card was sent to two loyal Browns fans and they got a big kick out of the cards

I bought this for my husbands birthday, and he was very pleased with it. In fact he's going to frame it and put it with his Neil Young collection. The art work is very life like and the Gretch guitar we've seen Neil Young play many times. The quality of the card and finish is excellent well worth the price. From placing the order to the delivery the service was excellent. So, many thanks to everyone.

Wonderful

Artist's Description

On a trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York with my then fourteen-year-old daughter, Hilary, she and I walked into the room in which Degas' bronze, 'The Little Fourteen-Year-Old Dancer,' was on display, and Hilary walked up to it, assumed the fourth position and I did a quick thumbnail sketch of them, together. A year later, I found that thumbnail sketch in my travel journal, dug up a photo of the wax original and created the oil pastel I call, 'Visit to a Museum.' This is an oil pastel painting and Prismacolor pencil drawing. To blend the color evenly, I mask the areas around selected color-fields with FriskFilm, cutting along the graphite sketch lines on the museum board with an x-acto blade, then I apply oil pastels and blend with a rag soaked in mineral spirits, layer broad strokes of oil pastel using a light touch, push the pigment around with my fingertips, layer more color on top with pencil, then draw the details in with Prismacolors that define the finished piece.
