I loved the artwork. I hung it immediately. It is so lightweight. Only issue is whoever put the wire hanger on the back, put it vertically instead of horizontal.

The metal print is fantastic. The picture, from 1948, features a painted exterior wall advertisementโฆ the wall was recently exposed during renovation of the building into residential loft apartments. The print now adorns a wall in the loft that has the original sign!

Artist's Description
Realistic acrylic painting of the Volkswagen Beetle, painted by the Dutch fine artist Paul Meijering - the Original painting is 120 x 90 cm and for sale The Volkswagen Beetle (officially the Volkswagen Type 1, informally in Germany the Volkswagen Kever and in the U.S. as Volkswagen Bug) is a two-door, four passenger, rear-engine economy car manufactured and marketed by German automaker Volkswagen (VW) from 1938 until 2003.The need for this kind of car, and its functional objectives, were formulated by Joseph Ganz, an engineer whose ideas influenced Adolf Hitler after he saw the car at an auto show. The leader of Nazi Germany wished for a cheap, simple car to be mass-produced for the new road network of his country. He contracted Ferdinand Porsche in 1934 to design and build it, after telling him in 1933 "This is the car for my roads" of the extremely similar Tatra V570. Porsche and his team took until 1938 to finalise the design, and said of the Tatra influence "sometimes I looked over...

At that time (1980) the tendency of the abstract was running riot, and to his dismay and disappointment Paul found that the trade of the ancient masters was merely 'old hat', the realistic art being disregarded and looked down upon. After two years of useless botchery, there was only one conclusion to draw: "get autodidact, be a self-taught person!" Paul then left the academy to work for a living, but at the back of his mind there always loomed the passion of his life: to paint. At his spare time...
