This watercolor is special in that it was one of the three that juried me into the National Watercolor Society back in 1975.
Born in San Bernardino, California in 1940, John Stewart moved to Glendale, near Los Angeles a year later. He developed interest in drawing at an early age and began art training at the age of twelve. Stewart studied with the Famous Artist's Schools in 1956; received a scholarship to Chouinard Art Institute in 1958; and later attended the Art Center School in Los Angeles, CA. Teachers and artists who influenced him were Robert Irwin and Bob Winquist. He had a 25-year career as a Scenic Artist for the entertainment industry with projects for television, motion picture and stage productions such as 'The Adams Family', 'One From the Heart', and 'Xanadu' . He also did special art projects for Disneyland, Disney World, Epcot and...

About eight years ago, when my husband and I lived in Eureka, we bought #14/250 of this work, directly from you, at the Ferndale Art Co-op which we often frequented. It has always hung in prominent place in our home. Personally, I can get lost in it, so still and quiet is the scene. Makes me want to make snow angels.
