Congratulations! Your marvelous art has been featured on the Home Page of the ABC Group. This art has been selected from the ABC Group's R IS FOR RIVER themed week. You are invited to add this to the features archive discussions and in another discussion in ABC Group!

Mary, Beautiful scenic shot of the Walnut Grove Bridge, love how you were able to take this shot dead center so the viewer could see all the great details of the bridge but also of eveything that surrounds the bridge. Excellent clarity in this great photo and a wonderful and interesting write up about the bridge and how it works, fav, voted, google and tweet promoted and selected as my Pay It Forward in the Self Taught Artists group

Mary Deal replied:

John, thanks you for your comments and promo. I went out on a friend's boat. See how nearly glassy the water looks? We waited for our wake to calm and prayed no other boat would come along before our boat stopped rocking so I could get a picture.

I ordered two of these for family members who have deep emotional connection to this mill. They were done quickly and arrived in time for Christmas. And the quality was great! Thank you!

Bought as a Christmas present, my friend was extremely pleased with it. Quite a large size, with big handles, good quality print, strong and well made.

Artist's Description

The Walnut Grove Bridge, spanning the river in the California Sacramento River Delta, has concrete counterweights which hold the bridge open when the bridge is lifted to allow tall boats to pass beneath. It is controlled by mechanics and a bridge tender. I am sure everything is computerized now but still requires a tender. Walnut Grove, the location of this bridge, is my childhood home town. Bascule bridges are a common sight in both the Sacramento Delta and San Joaquin Delta and are considered historic bridges. The Walnut Grove Bascule Bridge connects both sides of the town of Walnut Grove which lies on both the east and west sides of the Sacramento River. This is a distant, more inclusive view of the river and bridge. A mural type closeup is also included in this gallery. FEATURED: ABC Group - R Is For River - 7-04-18 The artist, Mary Deal, is also an award-winning author of mystery/thrillers, a short story collection, a writers' reference book, and self-help.
