I have purchased The Hunter and also Best Foot Forward by Maryanne Keeling. I have other Coastal Bird art in my bedroom and these 2 have completed my room and bathroom. I am extremely pleased with Maryanne's "top shelf" talent and her finished products. I have purchased 2 other pieces in the past and my home is loving her art!!

Artist's Description
At the time of her launch in 1958, the SS Edmund Fitzgerald was the largest freighter on the Great Lakes. For 17 years the Fitzgerald hauled taconite iron ore from the mines of Duluth, MN to Detroit and other Great Lakes ports setting records for seasonal hauls six times. Big Fitz became a legend when the ship went down on Lake Superior during a winter storm on November 10, 1975. Sailing in compan...y of the Arthur M Anderson, the Fitzgerald took on a heavy list and continues for several hours. At last check, Captain Ernest McSorely of the Fitgerald radioed, "We are holding our own." Moments later the ship went down without so much as a distress call. All 29 hands were lost. There are several theories about what caused the ship to sink so suddenly but the truth will probably never be known. One leading theory is that the ship touched bottom and began taking on water after sustaining hull damage. 2015 marks the 40th anniversary of the sinking and this print release commemorates the lege...

The forms those machines took were captivating to me - the pointed nose of a fighter jet; the exposed driving wheels of a mighty steam engine, the streamlined shape of a submarine. And the stories of the incredible experiences of the men who operated those machines are the stuff of legends and sometimes nightmares. From an early age I tried to express my fascination through drawing. I suppose my first...

Great painting. But she didn’t touch bottom - the water was 600 feet deep where she went down. She “broke deep” when her bow and stern were lifted by waves and the cargo weight overwhelmed the hull.
