Beautiful! We made my old office in our home into a bar and decorated around the racing motif. My husband is an old racecar driver and manager of a race team so we have a lot of our own art. But we wanted something dramatic around which to put our own pictures and memorabilia. This beautiful piece does exactly that. We love it!

Very pleased with the artistโs rendering of our beautiful Rocky boy. Really captures his loving and soulful eyes. So happy we got this. R.I.P. our dear sweet Rocky. You will never be forgotten ๐

This particular photograph was our first purchase of two. We were intrigued by the subject and scene captured by Madeleine Holleman, the photographer. The colors are perfect for the room. The quality of the double matting, the choices of colors for the mats as well as the picture frames are very nice. We are extremely pleased with our order. And thank you to Madeline for having exactly what we needed!

This photo is another example of Madeleine Hollemanโs work. The colors and theme could not have been more perfect for our bedroom. This was the second piece we purchased, using the same frame and double matting. This photo is the next size larger than the first one we bought. Ordering from the same company, Fine Art America made it easy. No hassle trying to match frame colors and styles. This was perfect! Their packaging was impressive too.
Artist's Description
At the time of her launch in 1958, the SS Edmund Fitzgerald was the largest freighter on the Great Lakes. For 17 years the Fitzgerald hauled taconite iron ore from the mines of Duluth, MN to Detroit and other Great Lakes ports setting records for seasonal hauls six times. Big Fitz became a legend when the ship went down on Lake Superior during a winter storm on November 10, 1975. Sailing in compan...y of the Arthur M Anderson, the Fitzgerald took on a heavy list and continues for several hours. At last check, Captain Ernest McSorely of the Fitgerald radioed, "We are holding our own." Moments later the ship went down without so much as a distress call. All 29 hands were lost. There are several theories about what caused the ship to sink so suddenly but the truth will probably never be known. One leading theory is that the ship touched bottom and began taking on water after sustaining hull damage. 2015 marks the 40th anniversary of the sinking and this print release commemorates the lege...
About Mark Karvon

Prints of all artworks are available at www.markkarvon.com. All artworks are copyright Mark Karvon. As a kid in the suburbs of Chicago, I always was interested in the mechanical creations of man. There is something about a purpose of design and the engineering solution to achieve that purpose that always created a spark in my mind. The forms those machines took were captivating to me - the pointed nose of a fighter jet; the exposed driving wheels of a mighty steam engine, the streamlined shape of a submarine. And the stories of the incredible experiences of the men who operated those machines are the stuff of legends and sometimes nightmares. From an early age I tried to express my fascination through drawing. I suppose my first...

Congratulations on your sale. This is a beautiful but sad painting. The iron ore on this boat came from the iron range in Minnesota. My father worked on the mine trains bringing the ore to the harbor by Duluth. F

Beautiful work of art. I had the Edmund Fitzgerald in my mind when I first saw your painting and before I read the description. I suppose at some point I knew she went down in 75 but just this morning I made the connection between the actual date and where I was in my life when the Gordon Lightfoot song made the air waves. I donโt think at that time I realized how recent the sinking actually was. Your painting brings those crucial moments of struggle and hope and grit and determination and emotion to life as well as the music โฆ and I mean that as high praise. Congratulations on your sale.
