Painting - Oil On Stretched Canvas
This is the fourth painting in my series titled “Unforgettable” . Weaving a Navajo rug is an amazing process that tells a remarkable story of life. When this scene took place, it was a family enterprise. It was their livelihood. They herded and sheared the sheep, carded, spun and dyed the wool, built the loom, wove the rug, sold the rug, and started all over again. Just outside the picture, her children watched, played, and learned, as she created the tapestry and passed her skills from one generation to the next. Even today, weaving traditional designs from memory, patterns are often influenced by events of the day, and since they usually take weeks or months to complete, they become a journal, symbolically recording the weaver’s tale. © John Watt 2007 Artist retains all rights to any reproductions of this original art.

You do excellent work. The way you handle the textures and shadows, I thought that several of the paintings were photographs.
