Description
A white horse with a blond mane munches amongst a tight growth of Texas bluebonnets (Lupinus texensis) in a pasture in Temple, Texas. As we were photographing it, someone told us that the horse was thirty years old. As we watched, he wandered through the flowers, seemingly ignoring them in favor of the fresh green grass that grew between them, as if he was weeding his garden.

Gary Holmes, photographer: I have always loved to photograph nature, landscapes, abstract, and other found objects of interest. Although I have staged single and group portraits and still life photographs, I prefer the challenge of trying to capture the unpredictable spontaneity of things and events as they are occurring. I started with a Kodak Brownie as a child, but entered the world of real photography with a Canon AE-1 in the late 1970's. I have successfully sold a number of my photographs on Fine Art America, and have won several awards, including an Editors' Choice on 500px, as well as a 5-star Editor's Choice designation in Camerapixo's Hot Shots photo magazine, Volume 4. Thank you for finding this one in my collection, Constance! I believe Spirit is no longer with us anymore. Haven't seen him for a long while.

After 30 years, I guess he knows what he is doing. Beautiful Capture Gary. Love the Bluebonnets. We just call them Lupine out here in Ca. Whatever the name, they are beautiful.
