Old Mazatlan, also known as the Historic Center, is earning a reputation as a destination for art and art lovers. Painters, sculptors, photographers, weavers and many other artists have created their studios in downtown Mazatlan, and the first Friday of each month, November until May, they open their doors to the Art Walk. 24 galleries and studios are now featured, with 41 artists from Argentina, the USA, Australia, Canada, Holland, Italy and, of course, Mexico. The Art Walk is free and you are your own guide. Besides finding some good art work, you can enjoy wine, snacks and music in some of the workshops and you will probably meet like minded people as well as the artists themselves.
Casa Etnika, advertised by this wonderful, vibrant artwork on the gate across from the gallery, offers distinctive, handcrafted products for highly personalized individual use and home decoration. This wonderful artisan merchandise is brought exclusively from the remote corners of Mexico.
