Description
This abstract minimalist shot of the simple, unassuming and unadorned bell tower on a small neighborhood church was taken near sunset when the shadows were hard, and the crisp sky, clear. There was the slightest of gentle, delicate breeze that evening, which caused to air to seem to compliment, rather than war with the rigid, bold strength of the tower; a coalescence of opposites which completed the vision. There was no segregation here, no intolerance, or rejection of "other" simply because it WAS "other". Neither color here makes apology for its presence nor does it resent that of the other without whom it would be less interesting and appealing, and in so doing, I felt, became a most beautiful message, for a church -- any church -- to send to all who pass by.
The colors suggested the most ancient of religions, and fundamental expressions of gratitude for the bounty we too often take for granted; the earth and the sky whose colors are such natural companions.
The weld itself seemed to propose to me a mending of the earth we have injured; a healing and coming together for the greater good.
