Where Have All The Flowers Gone. Title to a song and to this painting. I painted this in 2018 after a mass shooting of children and adults. 2018!! Now so many more have died and will die. I am in grief and a feeling of powerlessness. So I just keep painting as the world goes mad and we bit by bit lose our humanity.
With color and symbolism I paint personal issues, human issues. Transformation, enlightenment, pain, pleasure, life and death. I strive to portray the courage and growth it takes to move through the obstacles and triumphs of living on this earth. I started to paint at a very early age and found a way to express myself. My artwork is Expressionism. This is the way I have always communicated what is deeply personal to me. I reside in Oregon, on the coast. A beautiful place to communicate with nature, walk the beaches and be one with the Universe.

This painting was heavy on my heart to paint but I had to paint it. The sadness of what is moving over the earth is unbelievable and for this Empath I feel grief. So with that being said, I turn to my canvas and just let it out. Thank you for being a wonderful artist friend!!

Carolyn, I feel the sadness in your painting deeply. The flowers that will be missed so deeply. A sorrowful piece so beautifully done. We heal together and continue to put awareness and positive energy out to the Universe who hears our cries. And art like this reminds us to never forget that each breath we take is a blessing.

Grieving through art provides a conduit for all who share similar feelings to embrace each other in spirit. Thank you for sharing and giving an opportunity for all who view this to embrace each other in our grief. Lovely, sorrowful masterpiece my friend.

Extraordinary...the sense of sorrow and loss of innocent lives is so evident in this striking work of art, dear Carolyn...and indeed.. what a tragedy...the painting is a true masterpiece,,, a testament to the enduring power of art to move, inspire and give voice to those who will never see those flowers again...this is so poignant...I have goosebumps as I type...so, please...keep painting as each of your artworks speaks right to the depths of the soul...leaving us breathless and inspired...:) I think this must be the longest comment I have ever made...sending much love to you.. f.l.
Carolyn LeGrand replied:
Thank you Jolanta for your comment, compliment and support. It is not easy to paint these horrific things but so very necessary as artists are visual artists to the times I feel you love and thank you my friend.
