I bought this for my bathroom remodel in Paradise CA. The colors were vibrant and beautiful and the quality excellent. Unfortunately I never had time to take a picture of it in its new setting because my house burned down in the Camp Fire. Maybe we'll just have to move to Lake Chapala to enjoy the view.

It’s way too dark and that’s not problem of screens or what ever else. That’s unprofessional printing.

Artist's Description

This image is a micrograph (photograph through a microscope) of basalt from the popular rocky cliffs at Mokuleia. These cliffs are located on the north shore of the Hawaiian island of O'ahu. The image is titled Where the Lava Meets the Ocean because of the appearance in the image of the mafic (iron-rich) minerals (shown in orange) meeting fine-grained volcanic glass. This creates the appearance of when lava, the engine of creation, first makes contact with the ocean: one of the iconic images of Hawaii.

About Tom Phillips

Since he began creating micrographic images with a 1 megapixel camera in 2003, Tom Phillips has been catching the eye of people worldwide with his stunning images. Those images are captured in a way that showcase the amazing formations that exist in all types of rock. Although the subject of his main focus is meteorites and samples from Mars as well as our moon, he also creates amazing images of many types of rock found all over a world much closer to home: Earth.
