Description
My one overarching thought about birds in general is that they spend an inordinate amount of their days either looking for food or eating it. The White Ibis (Eudocimus albus) is certainly not an exception but a prime example. I watch them constantly probing the ground for bugs or the shallow beaches of lakes for aquatic creatures.
And probing is what they do, delivering stroke after stroke of its curved beak into the ground trying to identify food by feel. Can you imagine never seeing what you eat? The Ibis only eats that way!
The White Ibis is a VERY common bird in Florida and can be seen just about anywhere.
