Description
The Whitefish Point Lighthouse, is a lighthouse in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan On Lake Superior and is the oldest operating Light on Lake Superior. Whitefish Point is the key most important Lighthouse on the Great Lakes due to the treacherous shoreline known to all the sailors as the "Graveyard of the Great Lakes" this area has the highest Shipwrecks on the Great Lakes.
White Fish Point Lighthouse is Located in the Upper peninsula of Michigan on the shores of Lake Michigan on Whitefish Bay, and was built in 1849, the structure is Steel, with a Tower Shape Lattice tower that is 80 ft high, the original Lens was a Fresnel 3rd order Lens, and updated the lens to a Light-emitting diode(LED) lantern with a 15 nautical miles and a DCB-224 Carlisle & Finch Aerobeacon in 2007, and is a U.S. National Register of Historic Places.
