Lois Bryan replied:

Oh Steve!!!! I wish I'd known ... we were up at the cabin this past weekend!!! Richard and I could have bought you lunch!!!!! Anyhow, I'm so glad you got back ... the colors were spotty where we were ... depended a lot on the elevation. Nasty weather Fri and Sat, but I got off with the camera Sunday and hopefully got a keeper or two. Great hearing from you, as always ... so glad you stopped by!!!!

Just beautiful like a painting, dear Lois !!!!! Love your brilliant photography.....(F/L)

stunning work Lois!

Lois Bryan replied:

Hi Tara!!! Thank you!!!

I have always found these thing fascinating, Lois. We have a large wind farm just south of Kentland, Indiana. I have quite a few film shots, but haven't driven around there since I switched to digital. Like this shot, I love the contrast between the old farm country and modern technology. A Fav.

Lois Bryan replied:

Thanks so much, Scott. Many years ago, I was out in Palm Springs, California, and drove over to LA. Went past just what you described ... a giant wind farm ... and it was a sight I know I'll never forget. Amazing. (I'm tempted to say it blew me away, but ... ). What we have in Pa, that you see here, is nothing like that wind farm ... but I guess the end result is the same.

A cool treatment on this farm scene Lois! Congrats on your Feature in Barns Big and Small. We also added our Like! Celebrate life, Debra and Dave

Lois Bryan replied:

Debra and Dave ... thank you so so much for your lovely visit and note and feature!!! Truly appreciated!!

Our town has nuclear power plants, beautiful at night and from the air. But recently we had to pick up our newest iodine pills at the town hall. If there is a leak or an accident at the plant, we will be instructed how to use them. We also have our updated evacuation plan. you still think windmills are so scary? Do you need a body search to visit one? Are they a target of terrorists? Has one ever killed anyone? Do they melt down/fall over? LOL We do get used to what we are used to. But given the opportunity to choose, I'd rather get used to these windmills! ☺

Lois Bryan replied:

Oh, wow, Jade!!!!!! Well, from your perspective ... nuclear power plants ... the windmills do seem pretty tame, now, don't they!!! I don't think I'd be too crazy about what you've described, honey!! WOW!!! Yes, I'll take the windmills to your nuclear power plants!!! Yep!!!

Congratulations, FEATURED in Top Digital Artwork .. Navin

Lois Bryan replied:

Thank you very much, Navin!!

Artist's Description

NOTE: FINE ART AMERICA WATERMARK WILL NOT APPEAR ON PURCHASED IMAGE. Rural central Pennsylvania in autumn can be a brilliant vision. The fields patch-worked along the rolling hills and valleys turn the most delicious shade of old gold. Carved among the corn fields are pastures where milk cows graze in the last of the season's warm sun. One of the things that we are seeing in these glorious bucolic settings are the huge turbine windmills that now march across our horizons. They are the subject of much controversy among those who live here. Seen from a distance like this they are somewhat quaint. Up close ... kind of scary. This particular image is based on a photograph I took October 20, 2013 between Pavia and Roaring Spring, Pennsylvania with the Nikon D7000 and the Nikkor 18-200mm vr lens. Much tinkering in Photoshop CS6 to create the painterly look you see here which included significant hand-painting with the Wacom tablet. My thanks to Jerry Jones of Skeletal Mess for the...

About Lois Bryan

Welcome to Lois Bryan Photography and Digital Art. I'm a photographer and digital artist living in the mid-Atlantic area of the US. Most of my images are based on the photos I capture ... some are based on images captured by my son, Rich Bryan ... and some are sketched and digitally painted completely freehand. Although my goal will always be to catch that perfect shot straight out of the camera, I love exploring the artistic and creative process as I work with Photoshop and other image editing programs. Fine art purchases of my images will not include watermarks, and if I may make a recommendation ... images will look their very best on the fine art paper choice of "picture rag." Be sure to follow my latest photographic and...
