Window to the past of Tasmania's first operational coal mine was a probation station for "serving as a place of punishment for the 'worst class' of convicts from Port Arthur".
The clay bricks and stand stone blocks were made by the convicts.
I was there on a glorious summer day and thought about the convicts who worked long hours in the mines during the day and probably would not have seen the glorious surrounds of the bay.
