I am so excited to find another print of the Wolf Pen Mill in Louisville, Kentucky. I have some pictures by various people. My Grandfather worked at this Mill in the early 1900's. The woman that owned the Mill at that time, built a house on the same property as the Mill for my Grandfather and his family to live in as part of his pay for operating the Mill. I have a very faded newspaper picture of my Grandfather at the door of the mill that is dated 1935. I think it was in the early 1990's that Me and some of my family members, including my Mother, got to see the Mill and watch it work. Of course, nothing was produced, it was just so we could get the idea of how it worked.

Gerry Furgason replied:

I am so happy to hear from you!! I think you were speaking of the cabin near the Mill. Sally Bingham (owner of Mill and Courier Journal)lived in the cabin at one time..She made arrangements for the Kentucky Foundation for Women to use the property as a retreat. It is such a beautiful area out there. I hung onto a small tree in order to take photos of the Mill. Almost went sliding down that hill!!

Gerry Furgason replied:

A large spring version is on display somewhere at the Southwest Jefferson County Hospital. It was purchased when the original hospital opened. I believe Humana bought the hospital.

Gerry Furgason replied:

You might check with the Kentucky Foundation for Women. I think the Girls Scouts ground corn at the Mill for a fundraiser.
