I was pleasantly surprised to see that my house in Jackson was the subject of this awesome print! The little house depicted on this mug in red is my house lovingly called "Pink House". I bought this mug and one for my sister as a remembrance...as I have just sold this house. Thank you for such a lovely depiction.

I enjoy my coffee or tea in this handsome porcelain cup, "time-travelling" whilst researching French history in the Long 19th Century. 40-year old lame aristocrat Maurice Talleyrand, former Bishop of Autun fled to America to escape the Reign of Terror. He was living in a rented room, working as a banking and real estate agent in Philadelphia when about 1797 he and his friend Alexander Hamilton paid English pastel artist James Sharples a modest sum make their portraits, which they exchanged. After the tragic dueling death of Hamilton, his widow wrote to Talleyrand, (now back in France and Directoire Minister of Foreign Affairs) to request Hamilton's portrait, which hung over Talleyrand's mantlepiece. He restored to her, after having it copied. James Sharples' portrait of "The Lame Devil" is today in the Bristol (UK) art museum. The artist has caught the image of the proud, lonely exile, bored and homesick-- unsure if or when he can return to his beloved France. His astounding 45-year career as Europe's "Prince of diplomats" still lay before him. . . The mug is comfortable to hold, and of quality porcelain; I chose the mauve background to harmonise with the colour scheme of my living room.

Winter Wanderings I | Mixed Media Collage & Acrylic on Canvas
These silhouettes of barren trees against a winter sky were created by Metro Detroit fine artist Shadia. She began with a background surface of softly blended acrylics to create the underpainting of these collage pieces. Using a selection of hand painted found collage papers, tissues, discarded sewing patterns, origami and craft papers, Shadia painstakingly collaged each a portion of the trees as well as a portion of the background. The result is a simply composed yet dynamic painting in soft hues with subtle texture and pattern.
My most recent work draws more inspiration from color and texture than distinct subject matters, and my objective remains to imbue my canvasses with a sense of emotion. Through the intricate texture and vibrant color in my pieces, I aim to create a visceral response in the viewer; my hope is that the viewer may connect with them emotionally rather than through conscious, deliberate effort. In this way, viewers create their own interpretations through this initial connection, and the narrative of the piece becomes secondary. I was born and raised in Southeastern Michigan. A few years after earning my BFA with Honors from Eastern Michigan University, I began a mural and decorative painting company which allows me to create beautiful...
