I like to photograph a wide variety of subjects and, sometimes, to digitally manipulate images to achieve enhanced artistic effects. Many of these I call 'psychedelic'. Soon after photography was invented someone wittily described it as a "pho (foe) to graphic art", playing on fears that this new visual recording medium would replace the need for artists and put them out of business. This was, of course, nonsense. Although a camera records what is in front of its lens and an artist records what he or she sees (when not relying purely on memory or imagination), the processes are quite different.
