This painting makes me happy!! The colors are really fun and, like his other pieces I own, expertly painted. I want to live in this cottage and walk into the ocean. Ordered it on canvas - well executed. Thank you for the smiles!
Artist's Description
The Yellow Wagtail (Motacilla flava) is a widespread and common migratory species, found in Africa, Asia and Europe, with a variety of regional subspecies; it is the Western Yellow Wagtail that is seen in parts of Africa. This bird is a small passerine in the family Motacillidae that also includes pipits and longclaws. It measures about 6.1 inches in length, is slender, with olive-green colors on its upperparts and yellow below its wings, with blackish legs and bill, and constantly wagging its long tail. The head color of breeding males depends on the subspecies. This species prefers habitat of open country with low vegetation and nearby water, spends lots of time walking and foraging on the ground, and eats mostly insects.
This Yellow Wagtail perched on a mound was photographed at the Ngorongoro Crater and Conservation area, in Tanzania, on 1-13-2016. I used a Nikon D810 camera body and a Nikkor 500mm f/4.0E FL ED VR2 telephoto lens to capture this image. Settings: 1/400...
