Born and raised in South Africa, Charne Gooch has called Vancouver Island, Canada,home since 1997. Always interested in the natural world, Charne found herself fascinated by the different fauna and flora of her new home. She observes that : ‘Whenever I look at a landscape, a plant or an animal, I always find myself looking close-up, that is what truly fascinates me. I am drawn to the minute details of an object’ Dramatic light and the atmosphere of a scene are equally important, while vibrant colours and interesting textures round out the requirements for what inspires her to work.
