Artist Pavitha Ashwin Released A New Painting

Emerald Creek

Acrylic on Canvas. 36"x 48"

The colors in this Emerald Creek painting are mainly inspired by the Emerald gemstone. Emeralds occur in hues ranging from yellow-green to blue-green, with the primary hue necessarily being verdant green hue. Yellow and blue are the normal secondary hues found in emeralds. According to Indian mythology, the name emerald was first translated from Sanskrit as “marakata,” meaning “the green of growing things.”

This Creek is a place where I often visit in my day dreams. Many times, in dense patches of forest, suddenly a shaft of sunlight breaks through and that area seems almost lit with flame. I have tried rendering this beautiful scene from my hazy memories of a stream and its banks covered in dense foliage, with the sunlight falling on the grassy banks and transforming the otherwise dull scene into a magnificent display of color and contrast.

Artist Pavitha Ashwin Released A New Painting

Artist Pavitha Ashwin's- A Rose ....Oil on canvas ..

Roses have always been used to express many feelings and emotions .... this Rose has detached itself from all emotions attached with its color..

I wanted to experiment if a rose would look as beautiful even when stripped of its color, fragrance and other things that define it.

I am happy with the result – with the rose taking on an ethereal kind of beauty that makes it all the more striking , in my opinion.

Truly – a thing of beauty is a joy forever!

Woody-Woodpecker Oil on Canvas

This is a West Indian Woodpecker. It's black and white striped feathers topped with a red head makes it look very fashionable. Being an interior designer myself, I am drawn to elements of style and design - and this bird makes a great fashion statement.

In this painting I like the way I was able to get the effect of the feathers of the bird....and especially , the way I have been able to portray the bark of the tree , which I feel really great about.

This painting has been Featured in 3 FAA groups:

Raising Deer Creek Awareness - Open Studio Artist Partners With Sierra Streams Institute

Nevada City, CA

September 21, 2017

During the first weekend in October, when 44 studios open their doors across Nevada County for the Fall Colors Open Studios Art Tour, artist Lisa Redfern will be showing a range of her artwork while spotlighting local watershed awareness with her Life on the Creek art series. Focusing on Deer Creek, the series features plants and animals that live there.

Redfern will be raffling Life on the Creek t-shirts, housewares, and a framed 20x24 Sierran Tree Frog print. 100% of the money raised during the raffle will be donated to Sierra Streams Institute.

“Deer Creek is a sweet little waterway that runs through our backyard,” says Redfern. It became a passion and focus of the art series last winter when storms turned the creek into a powerful, churning force that threatened homes and businesses.

Redfern began blogging about it after photographing high water levels and comparing them to images she’d taken in 2011....

I have admired her work on the banners in Creve Coeur.

I find her talented, creative with all the fun and funk that makes her a great artist.

Thank you Genevieve Esson for your attention to detail and seeing my true colors.

Woodstock 1969 Book To Be Published

Woodstock 1969: The Lasting Impact of the Counter Culture

A photographic review of the festival that changed history.

As the fiftieth anniversary of the Woodstock Festival nears, Woodstock 1969 stands out for its singular voice. Photojournalist Jason Laure followed his unerring instinct for being in the right place at the crucial moment. He and coauthor Ettagale Blauer trace the historic events that preceded the festival and then envelop the reader with photographs of the headliner rock stars that performed during the landmark three-day concert including The Who, Janis Joplin, Grace Slick of Jefferson Airplane and Santana.

Threading his way back and forth from the stage, through a sea of happy audience members, Jason Laure photographed the communal life that was an essential part of the phenomenon that was Woodstock. Never intrusive, yet working close-up, he managed to capture these innocent moments in the pond and in the woods with the same...

Fresh Sardine Fish Catch Of The Day Painterly Metal Print By Wingsdomain Art And Photography

September 22nd, 2017 - San Francisco, CA

Fresh Sardine Fish Catch Of The Day Painterly Metal Print By Wingsdomain Art And Photography

Typically, sardines are caught with encircling nets, particularly purse seines. Many modifications of encircling nets are used, including traps or weirs. The latter are stationary enclosures composed of stakes into which schools of sardines are diverted as they swim along the coast. The fish are caught mainly at night, when they approach the surface to feed on plankton. After harvesting, the fish are submerged in brine while they are transported to shore. Sardines are commercially fished for a variety of uses: for bait; for immediate consumption; for drying, salting, or smoking; and for reduction into fish meal or oil. The chief use of sardines is for human consumption, but fish meal is used as animal feed, while sardine oil has many uses, including the manufacture of paint, varnish and linoleum. -wikipedia

FRAGMENTOS

September 22nd, 2017 - MEDELLIN, AN

FRAGMENTOS
