Giving Thanks For Small Things Theme Of FAA Artists New Series

November 22nd, 2021 - Savannah, Ga
Fine Art America artist Aberjhani, whose work is currently on exhibit at the Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport, recently launched a new online art series titled “Finding Shelter in a Circle of Gratitude.” Although the series is making its debut just in time for Thanksgiving and the winter holidays, the artist says it is about more than that.
“A lot of the motivation behind this series came from the fact that we’ve been battling the COVID-19 pandemic for almost two years now and finally found ways to slow its spread and decrease deaths from it. Catastrophic mass casualty events always reminding us of how important little things like showing each other common courtesy, or taking notice of a beautiful sunset or sunrise, can be. The pandemic has been especially convincing.”
The individual titles of the three works in the new series are: 1) “A Bouquet of Humanity”; 2) “Existential Heartbeat”; and 3) “Meanwhile Back on Earth.” They can be found on the artists Pixels.com website as well as here at Fine Art America on the following page links:

Commenting on the reference to the second art piece’s title, “Existential Heartbeat,” to Nigerian-born author Ben Okri’s call for artists to practice “existential creativity,” Aberjhani said it corresponds with his long-time admiration for the author.
“I first became familiar with Okri’s work when he won England’s Booker Prize for his novel, ‘The Famished Road.’ But just last week, I read in The Guardian about his concerns over the different crises humanity is coping with right now, and his call for creative artists to confront those crises with an ‘existential creativity.’ I realized that I and many others were actually already doing that in a lot of our work. So with the ‘Existential Heartbeat’ image in particular I just wanted to acknowledge that he isn’t alone.”
Works by the artist currently on exhibit at the Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport are part of the “Narrative” group art show sponsored by the Savannah Art Association, of which Aberjhani is also a member.
