Jane K Starks Paintings Explore The Beauty Of Diminishing Wilderness

Valley House Gallery & Sculpture Garden is a welcome oasis during a period of fall color, as is the art inside the gallery. Jane K. Starks’ “Plein Air” is its newest show, which happens to be the third solo exhibition of Starks’ paintings. She’s an artist who immerses herself in the history and archaeology of places she loves to paint: the wilderness areas of Texas, New Mexico and Utah. She paints on-site, her hosts say, “without reliance on photographs or preliminary sketches.” Starks says she hopes her paintings “serve as a record of the solitude and beauty of the diminishing wilderness under our domain.”
