Artist's Description
I photograph Seabirds in the mangroves. The Great Blue Heron is my favorite. He is majestic, regal, and prehistoric. Here he was alert, ready and waiting and that is the moment I tryed to capture.
This is the ancient technique of egg tempera painting. This requires many, many hours of concentrated effort in technique which involves tiny brushes and at least seven layers. You get a jewel like effect from the transparency and layering (glazing) that can not be achieved quite this way in any other medium.
This bird extends a message of hope in God's infinate plan...
About Judy Via-Wolff
I have a great love for nature and all God's creation. In any artworks or photos I create, I try to reflect a moment of fleeting beauty as all things are but for an instant. I love to paint and use pastels. I paint in oils, acylics, and water colors depending on the piece. I also pursue the medieval technique of egg tempera painting.I also have begun digital painting which I create from scratch with a stylus. Photography also provides an instant in time. Judy has a BFA and a Masters Degree From RIT"S School for American Craftsman and Fine art. She spent many years as a glass artist and was able to reflect the light and colors of God's creation through this medium. She won many awards over the years and enjoyed creating new works...
