love this greeting card
I got a surprise one day as I looked my window and saw this big tarantula strolling by right outside my house in Baja California. Even though I have arachnophobia I just had to grab my camera and run out to take photos. I'm glad I did. Spending some time with this cute little fella, I could understand how some people enjoy having them as pets.
When I was about 9 years old I went to Hawaii on vacation with my family. My dad loaned me one of his cameras to take photos with. I don't remember the brand, but it was a glass lens rangefinder. I think my father had noticed that I loved to take photos, even with the plastic lens cameras I'd had access to up until then. I took some great photos with that little rangefinder, but the one that stands out in my mind to this day is a photo of turtles who were swimming under water. I was standing above them, shooting at a slight angle. I captured the turtles, the play of light underneath the water, and the surface light and texture, all in perfect focus. It was a stunning photo. I couldn't stop looking at it. I couldn't believe I had taken it!...
