Artist's Description
This painting was suggested by three angular rock outcroppings that I saw on a hill near Julian. I used papers stained with metallic acrylic inks and a variety of rice papers to create textures.
About Don Trout
Don began drawing in early childhood. While in grade school, he won a Saturday scholarship to the Kansas City Art Institute. Don earned a degree in fine art from the University of Kansas City and on graduating, was drafted into the Army. On completion of military service he moved to California and secured a job with Lockheed as a technical illustrator. Using the GI Bill, he attended night school classes at the Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles. While in the aerospace field he held positions of technical illustrator, commercial artist, and finally art director of an in-house art group. Don enjoys exploring a wide range of styles in his work. He has always painted representational subject matter but in recent years has begun to use...
