Artist's Description
Point-of-care diagnostics, IBM research. Illustration of a 'lab on a chip' as developed by IBM scientists Luc Gervais and Emmanuel Delamarche at IBM Research-Zurich, Switzerland. The insets illustrate the use of a laser in such system. The IBM system uses an innovative silicon chip and can test for many diseases, including cardiovascular disease. The test is also flexible enough to test for chemical and biological hazards and monitor medicinal therapies. This artwork was published in 2009.
