... A lone tree stands tall
against the early morning fog
in the calm of the early morning,
long shadows cast down
the hillside of this lovely park.
A touch of foggy mist
has settled on the forest trail
and drifts overhead
as the lush green grass
feels moist and spongy underfoot.
The trees have not yet leafed out
with their Spring foliage
and the air has
just a touch of coolness
on an early April morning
in the mountains.
This is the Smokies,
part of the Blue Ridge
mountain chain,
where nature rules!
Also known as
the Appalachian Mountains,
they are some
of the oldest mountains
in the United States.
Full of forests, streams,
waterfalls, and trails,
one can find peace for the soul
along these meandering paths...
