Just what I wanted for a new iPhone. A special “Thank You” to artist ‘Serge Averbukh’ for the addition, at my request, to the design of my Navy rating, the lightening bolts (sparks as they are/were called) in the middle of the CPO insignia. I asked; he came through….When I use my phone, it brings back fond memories of my 20-year Navy career…. Thanks Serge….

Donor blood processing. Bags of donor blood hung from a rail during leucodepletion. Leucodepletion is the removal of white blood cells (leukocytes) from blood samples. Gravity pulls the blood through filters (not seen), which remove most of the white blood cells. White blood cells are removed to lessen adverse transfusion reactions, remove cytomegalovirus and as a precaution against the transmission of vCJD (variant Creutzfeldt Jacob disease), the human form of BSE (bovine spongiform encephalopathy).
