The aluminum sheet is offset from the wall by a 3/4" thick wooden frame which is attached to the back. The wooden frame includes a hanging wire for easy mounting on your wall (see photo on the left).

Artist's Description
These cottages are painted from memory after visiting a small fishing village near Cape Aghullas, 20 years ago.
The village is called Arniston after a ship that sank off the "Cape of Storms" in 1815. The real name of the town is Waenhuiskranz.
The remains of the ship were located in January 1982 and declared a National Monument.
These cottages were built by the local fishermen, but have either been demolished or renovated and are no longer the picturesque and charming subjects of painters.
This type of cottage is the quintessential local beach building, and have been the inspiration of generations of painters..
About Harold Kimmel
Harold Kimmel Harold was born in Johannesburg, and qualified as a Civil Engineer in 1963 at the University of the Witwatersrand. After working as a Consulting Engineer he started his own construction company. In 1987 he graduated with a Masters degree in engineering and 1989 a doctorate in business management. He and his family moved to Cape Town in 1996 and he took up watercolour painting in 2000. He has no formal training but enjoys every minute spent painting. “Painting is one of those wonderful and totally absorbing pastimes and has a therapeutic effect to boot” he says.
