The artwork is beautiful. I think it would be excellent on a canvas. I have been considering a second order. I am in awe of the artist.

Not long ago Whidbey Island was the home of many dairy farms. Over the years, the number of farms dwindled, until finally the last dairy on the island closed. It was a sad day indeed for those of us who love and support local agriculture. Fortunately, you can still see the occasional black and white Whidbey Holstein, because some farmers still raise young stock to supply the larger dairies on the mainland (or as we islanders like to say “in America”). This classic bovine breed remains one of my favorite subjects. A herd of these hard working animals dotting an emerald pasture typifies farm life. And who knows, with the beginnings of a trend away from large commercial farming, maybe someday the profitable, working dairy farm will return to Whidbey Island. I’d like to think it could happen.
I delight in rural farm life. To me it’s the best possible way to live. But not everyone can or wants to live on a farm or in the country. That’s where my art comes in. I paint my vision of what rural farm life embodies: animals, birds, crops, fresh air, fragrant grass and of course, red barns. All of these things ground me and make me whole. With my art, it’s my goal to share my connection to this pure, simple lifestyle so you can enjoy it in your own home.
