The aluminum sheet is offset from the wall by a 3/4" thick wooden frame which is attached to the back.   The wooden frame includes a hanging wire for easy mounting on your wall (see photo on the left).

Artist's Description

The pose for my self-portrait in 1980 is based on the last photograph taken of Norman Rockwell by Life magazine. I used the pose in the photograph for my self-portrait that year.

I'm originally from West Virginia, but I have lived in Salem, Ore., for the past 31 years and call Oregon my home. I never majored in art, though I have taken a half-dozen art classes while at Marshall University in my hometown of Huntington, W.Va. I "discovered" that I had a talent for art quite by accident when I was in my mid-20s: I needed art for my first apartment, but I ran out of money just setting up the apartment and buying furniture for it. I went to the local art store, bought acrylic paints and canvases and began creating abstracts. I consider myself to be mostly self-taught. I did take classes in portraiture for several years from a Salem portraits artist, JoAnn Bently. A huge influence on my painting style was Norman...
