About Julie Magers Soulen
My Colorado fine art photography features nature, landscape, wildlife, flowers, urban, and black and white photos of the American West. Since I moved to Colorado more than 20 years ago, I have been an avid outdoors enthusiast. In the late 90s I moved to a house in the forest of the Rocky Mountains where I lived off-grid with solar power for 12 years. I loved hiking in the surrounding mountain forests with my two dogs. My love of nature is reflected in my photography. I find nature to be inspiring in all its many forms. For eight years my work was featured in a regular online column, The Colorado Journal, in The Denver Post. LINKS Facebook Blog Twitter Website Even More Links CONTRIBUTOR University of Denver...

Fantastic composition! Love the doorways the viewer can travel through to get to a black bird and bright field behind and then, the glorious textures and colors of the trees, mountains and sky in the background! Almost seems that the log cabin is bowing down under the weight of holding those mountains up! vf
Julie Magers Soulen replied:
Thank you very much Karen! I love your description!
AnnaJo Vahle
What a delight to notice the raven in the doorway. This is quite and unusual composition and subject. I like the way that you did it very much. f/v
Julie Magers Soulen replied:
Thanks AnnaJo! It has a lot going on for sure.
Brian Wallace
"Artistic eye" must be the reason. Thanks for your reply Julie. :)

Everything came together on this one Julie! Great stuff! I have a similar composition from an abandoned home but you have the cool cockeyed doors, wood grain, and of course the raven at the end! http://brian-wallace.artistwebsites.com/featured/when-one-door-closes-brian-wallace.html
Julie Magers Soulen replied:
Thank you Brian! They are similar shots. I like yours very much! It always amazes me when I see a photo similar to my own. We all do really think alike at times.

Hi Julie, I love how the door and window draw the viewer towards the beauty of Colorado but I also think the crooked door is a metaphor for the crooked history of Colorado!
Julie Magers Soulen replied:
Thanks Harriet! I would love to sit and chat about that metaphor. :)
